Permanent Housing

Long-term housing solutions through HUD-VASH vouchers and supportive housing programs

Employment

Job training, resume assistance, and connections to veteran-friendly employers

Healthcare

Mental health support, substance abuse treatment, and primary care access

HUD-VASH Program

The Housing and Urban Development-VA Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) program combines HUD housing vouchers with VA supportive services to help homeless veterans achieve sustainable housing.

What to Know

How the Hotline
Actually Works

The VA's National Call Center for Homeless Veterans connects you to a real person — not an automated menu — who can get you into the system immediately.

The HUD-VASH Program

Housing and Urban Development — VA Supportive Housing

HUD-VASH is a joint program between the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the VA. It provides permanent housing vouchers to homeless veterans, paired with ongoing case management and supportive services from VA social workers. As of the VA's most recent data, HUD-VASH has helped tens of thousands of veterans move into stable, independent housing.

The program targets the chronically homeless and those most in need — but anyone experiencing homelessness should call the hotline to be screened for eligibility. Case managers can also connect you to employment support, mental health services, and substance use treatment through the same VA network.
